Ready for Another Giveaway?

I really love it when I get approached for good giveaways to offer you guys. This time, CSN Stores.com emailed and asked if I’d like to give away a $65 gift card to one of my readers. Um, yes! CSN is amazing – they are a one-stop shop for, well, practically everything! Chandeliers? Yup. Modern furniture from faves like Kartell? Yup. Can’t decide between flat panel TV stands for that TV you’re buying with your tax refund? Yup – they have an entire site for that! But my favorites are AllModern.com for modern faves from Chilewich (super cool textiles), among others, and AllModernBaby.com. I was particularly impressed by the wide selection of cool baby items, many of which are hard-to-find around here, such as the uber-cool Nook mattresses. Anyway. It doesn’t matter which site you choose — I guarantee you’ll find something to spend your $65 on!

Macy’s & A Giveaway!

I was recently contacted by Macy’s a few weeks back about their upcoming fashion workshop – an intensive five-day training session that only 20 women and minority business owners will be handpicked for and they asked me to pass along this opportunity to my blog readers.

The Workshop at Macy’s is a four-day training course held at Macy’s Herald Square office in New York City. It is open to minority and women owned businesses and aims to provide them with the experience and industry know-how needed to score a major retail partnership. The Workshops will be led by seasoned industry experts and has the potential to open doors to many more exciting opportunities. Anyone who is interested and meets the requirements are welcome to apply, but only a few shining stars will be selected to attend this competitive course.

Man, I wish I’d known about this a few years back when I was involved (albeit for a brief year) in the fashion industry. It would have been an excellent opportunity to learn about how to succeed in a really (REALLY) tough business. Too many times I felt like we had all these great ideas, but limited ways to really get them accomplished. Having the help of an established leader in retail would have been priceless. But maybe this will help one of you guys out there. Edited to add: Please note that this is a competition of sorts. I am not participating in this, nor have I been offered a place. Macy’s is getting the word out for all the people who might be potential participants. Thanks!

Settling In, plus giveaway winner!

I’m really excited about settling in here at the new blog. I feel like there’s greater opportunity for growth, as well as organization. You’ll notice that I’ve got a few more dropdown menus than I did at the other blog. Check them out at the top – under ‘About Me’ you can find my list of books for the year, as well as info about me, photos of the house projects we’ve done, and my journey w/ ulcerative colitis. I know people come here for various reasons, so I’ve tried to make it easier to maneuver around. There’s also a section devoted to the Design Studio. You can find more info there on my personal design manifesto (ha) as well as a few portfolio pictures.

I seemed to get a lot of messages lately for people looking for specific posts. There’s now a search bar in the upper right hand corner, on the navigation bar. Of course, as always, the tag menu on the right will show various categories I tend to use frequently.

Is the site loading slowly for anybody? It does every now and then for me, so I’m not sure if it’s just me or not. Comment below and let me know. I know there’ll be a few bugs to be tweaked, so I want to be sure and catch them as they come along.

GIVEAWAY!!!!!!!!!

In case you didn’t notice on my last post, my 29th birthday is this upcoming Sunday, so in honor of the last few days of 28, I’m doing a giveaway! One of my favorite movies of all time is My Fair Lady. Gorgeous music, gorgeous scenery, gorgeous Audrey.

So I’m giving away a DVD of this fab classic!
