More Christmas Inspiration

Ready for some more Christmas decorating inspiration?! Because I’ve got it for you right here. I’ve been collecting images for a few weeks now; all sources can be viewed at my Christmas Pinterest collection.

This chandelier is just too cheerful!

From Martha Stewart – an easy way to recycle old holiday cards. Isn’t that a good idea? I never know what to do with old Christmas cards.

I keep meaning to make these classic chains. I have tons of little bits of leftover ribbon. I did make this project using multicolored pipe cleaners this weekend and it turned out so so cute. Photos later.

I like this countdown calendar because you could use it all year long for various events like birthdays and anniversaries.

Pretty little felt Christmas tree.

I do not have a tree topper. This is terrible. We’ve been married for 5 years and every year, the top of our tree is bare. I wish that somewhere, somehow, I could have this delightful giant pompom topper. So so cute.

The other thing we have yet to purchase is stockings. These polka dot ones are so whimsical, and I adore the giant felt ball trim.

More wreath lovelies.

Cute scalloped tree skirt. I noticed tonight at Target that you can get a basic red or green felt skirt for $5(!). This would be so simple to DIY.

These might be my favorite stockings. They’re just whimsical enough but they’re also simple so that way they could easily go with any variety of Christmas decor that you might choose. I like to switch things up too often, so I need the pricier stuff like stockings to be versatile.

And finally, little pretty pipe cleaner trees.

Are you ready for Christmas? Have you decorated yet?

Wreath Roundup

Yippee! Let the holiday decorating and excitement begin in earnest!

I hope your Thanksgiving holiday was wonderful; ours definitely was. And there was a LOT of really good food at our Thanksgiving table. I’m still thinking about Amy & Eric’s garlic parmesan mashed potatoes(!).

Ok. Somebody (Stephanie, I think it was you!) requested holiday decor inspiration, so I’ve been collecting a few images over the past few weeks. Martha Stewart is always my go-to; she’s perfection every time. But here’s some of my faves from other sources that I’ve collected on Pinterest. You can go to this set to see all of the sources that aren’t Martha.

This one is from Home Decorators’ Collection. It also comes in red, although I’m assuming the red is sold out since the only images they are showing right now are the white. At $24, this is a bargain. Isn’t it stunning?

Ooh, but guess who else has this identical wreath and other matching accoutrements? Target. BUT! Buyer beware – it’s almost 2x as expensive. Crazy!

I’ve written about my love for etsy seller KnockKnocking before, but I can’t ever resist her lovely yarn wreaths.

Traditional colors, but fun, bubbly shape. From etsy seller Bradensams.  This shop has several really cute wreaths.

YAY for tissue pom poms! By etsy seller FayeMarie.

Ok, not a traditional wreath, nor traditional colors, but I love the idea of these hanging on a door. I think it could be really stunning. Seen at The Tortoise & the Hare.

And finally, one of my absolute faves. I really want to make one like this.

Amazing, no? There’s a full tutorial at this site.

Whew! I think that about does it!  Have a wonderful Monday – I’ll be back later in the week with more Christmas fun, and an adventure out to rural Oklahoma for fried chicken. Think of me today as I’m on the road to Dallas for some Christmas shopping w/ my sis-in-law!

Non-Themey Seasonal Decorating

If you’ve ever been the recipient of goofy holiday decor, like that chuckling Santa cookie jar or dancing snowman, then this is a post for you. I tend to be a non-themey person. I’m not interested in people walking into a room and thinking, “oh, ok, this is your Paris room” or similar. When it comes to holiday decor, I like to keep it chic and simple, but I do like the idea of special Christmas sheets or Christmas dishes.

This large buffalo check duvet cover and shams from Pottery Barn is so graphic and appealing in the bright red. While it looks a little bit country here in this photo, I can imagine it super-chic against bright white sheets, with pale Robins’-egg blue throw pillows. I’m nixing the toile shown here. Blah.

Chrysi and I were talking the other day about how we both love anything with a bird motif, and these “Strawberry Fields” sheets from Pottery Barn attracted both of us. Once again, not too themey, but just fun and bright for Christmas. This isn’t the best picture of it; if you get the PB Bed & Bath Catalog, there’s a way better photo.

Um, how fun is this? If you have a 4-poster bed, you MUST hang beautiful boxwood branches from it! I love it! (image from Pottery Barn)

Ahhh, Crate & Barrel! I wish we had one of you here in Oklahoma City! Look at these fun retro-inspired scallop dishes and cakestand!

Or maybe these striped espresso cups!

On the hunt for Christmas Stockings

We own zero Christmas stockings, and I’m thinking it’s time that we get some. One of my friends told me the other day that her childhood stockings were handmade by her mom, and the cuffs were trimmed with fabric from her wedding dress. Now that’s an heirloom keepsake! I like the idea of making my own, but there’s a lot of really amazing stockings out there too.

Etsy is a veritable smorgasbord of handmade stockings. Check out these offerings from MissMosh:

The Original Elf Felt Stocking brown pinks cream by missmosh.

Oh, and an awesome tree skirt too!

RikRak’s felted stockings are so bold and graphic. I can only begin to imagine the fun combinations!

Initial stockings!!!! Ack!!!! I DIE!!!

Felt ornaments, too.

Bloom & Barnacle’s sweet ribbed stripe stockings

But it’s these striped knit stockings from Sturbridge Yankee that I’m in love with.

They’re half off, too – $19.99 apiece.

And paired with these fun frame stocking holders from Pottery Barn, they would be perfect.

A funky Jester stocking from Pier 1.

What kind of stockings do you have? Do you mix & match or have all the same?
