After freelancing as a graphic designer for several years, Pencil Shavings Studio was launched in January of 2011 on Etsy. The response has been overwhelmingly wonderful, and we have continued to add cool products ever since then. Pencil Shavings Studio is all about color, pattern, whimsy, and being chic in the ordinary of every day. My goal is to put personality in everything I design.

About Me
I earned my BFA in visual communications from the University of Oklahoma in 2004 after spending a few summers studying French, art, and design in Paris. OU had a fantastic design program and I’m proud of the education I earned there, with a strong emphasis on professionality, attention to detail, and the understanding of how information can best be presented. My first year out of college was spent as an in-house designer for a small apparel company where I learned the ins-and-outs of the fashion industry as well as experiencing how a small business gets started from the ground up.
Why do I design? It may be cliche, but I’ve been interested in seeing different ways of doing things since I was small. And at the heart of it, design (regardless of specialization, whether it be fashion, graphics, or interiors) is about solving a problem. How will you communicate? What will you communicate? And beyond that, I like creating beautiful things.
Nothing makes me happier at the end of a day than having a happy client. And referrals from past happy clients make it all the better.
