Week in Review

Living

Happy Friday, darlings. Another week has passed and here we are almost to Valentine’s Day! Yippee! Next week I’ll be hosting a girls’ Valentine art party for a few buddies. I love any reason to host a party and now Simon is on me to plan a party that he can actually be a part of. Oops. Should’ve thought of something to include the boys, I guess.

Speaking of Valentine’s: big thanks to everyone who shared my posts this week on Valentine’s Day cupid donuts and the washi tape iPhone chargers. It’s been fun to see how you guys are using it over on Instagram. Be sure and mention me (@pencilshavings) so I can see all the ways you’re washi taping your phones and skewering your donuts. Haha

Over on Instagram this week, I posted a couple of the layouts I’ve done for the moms Bible study I’m a part of at our church. Our study this semester is focusing on guarding your heart and filling it with Scripture. I haven’t done Bible verse memory for years, but I’m amazed at how over the past two weeks, God has been quietly changing things in my heart through the couple of verses I’ve memorized. Jude and I have also had some great conversations. Even though it was a book written 2000 years ago, it never ceases to amaze me how applicable it still can be, even in 2013. I’ll work on adding downloads of these to this post later today if you’re interested in them.  Someone also mentioned putting a few prints of these in my shop. Would you be interested in that? I’ll continue to design these for our Moms group through the remainder of the semester.

In studio news, I have some REALLY exciting things in store over the next few weeks. Creatively I’m on fire right now. I’m so inspired to design, write, and photograph and the ideas are kind of exploding. New patterns for all items will be coming over the next month – Spring 2013 is going to be so much fun!

Oh! And next week I’m going to show you the “before” on an interior design project I’m working on. It’s a cabana-turned-workspace that needs a fresh update and the result is going to be such a breath of fresh air. I think you’re going to get a kick out of it.

We’re gearing up for our spring break cruise in a few weeks, and shorts are on my radar. You guys, you’re going to shoot me for this, but Working Closet was right when she said we need to be buying shorts as early as possible for best selection.  I’ve got my eye on these cute shorts from Loft (they fit my curvy bottom half the best of all the shorts out there – see what I’m talking about in this post).  They’ll look cute with this polka dot buttondown I picked up at J.Crew this week! Such a great fit.

Hope you have a fantastic weekend and I’ll see you here on Monday!
