My most favorite holiday craft of all is dyeing Easter eggs (of course). I have always adored the ritual of it.

This year’s gilded eggs were a particular challenge and super time-consuming. Jude lost interest long before I did. Results were extremely inconsistent, but they are awfully lovely.

  It was an Easter egg-decorating kit that I found at Michael’s. Pretty fun, huh? I’ve never seen anything like them.

      We used this kit last year. Got it at Walmart. The only thing I didn’t like about it was that the eggs stay sticky.

They are gorgeous! But what do you do them afterward?

  Good question! Unfortunately, they’re going to rot eventually since they are hardboiled eggs and do not last forever. I had considered blowing out the eggs and then attempting these, but blown out eggs are far too fragile to withstand the process of gilding them. I had to press pretty hard to get the foil to stick to the adhesive, so I would’ve crushed them.

    I’m so obsessed with these it’s kind of hard to explain. If I was an egg this would be the egg I’d lose my virginity to. Does that make sense? Inappropriate? Love it!

    Why let them rot? Peel them and make deviled eggs, or egg salad.

    If you save all the shells, you can use it to make mosaic stuff. With those shells, it would be BEAUTIFUL!

  Thank you! Yes, it’s kind of a stripeapalooza over here! I photographed the eggs laying on one of my striped melamine trays from my shop at http://pencilshavingsstudio.etsy.com and it’s kinda stripe overload against the background! ha!
