Prepping for Easter

IMG_0005
I adore dyeing Easter eggs.  If you’ve been hanging around this blog for very long, these photos may look similar to years past.  I just love the process!

Speaking of years past, this week is my blog birthday!  Can you believe it? I’ve been blogging for 3 years!

I blew out a couple of the eggs b/c I wanted to experiment w/ possibly stringing a bunch of eggs together.  Buuuuut, it was harder and more time consuming than expected, and then when I put the eggs in the dye bath, they just floated on the top of the dye. Weird.

He wanted to hide them out in his “pirate ship”. No way of knowing how many eggs we’re going to find over the next few months.

Check out these teen angst photos of Jude. I mean, c’mon. Really?  Is this some precursor to senior photos? Look at that face!

This is the one he’ll reference one day when he’s a famous model. “Yeah, I’ve been modeling since I was, like, 3.  It just came naturally.”

Silly goose.  Love that face.

I need to buy eggs today. I mindlessly bought brown this week. Not the brightest move :(

You might get some interesting color combos out of the brown eggs!

Ahh! He is really adorable. Also, on your advice I hosted a Stella and Dot trunk show last month and it was wonderful! I got some great pieces!

I am still sorting out what to do for Easter for my little one. I now realize how easy it is to go overboard for kiddos!

Please explain the egg process…are they hollow? I’m so confused….

Hattie Mae thinks Jude is a hottie

Hahahaha, Jude thinks Hattie Mae is a doll! Srsly, he really does talk about her.

Ok, on blowing out the eggs. You need a straight pin and you poke holes in both ends of the egg. On one end, make the hole a little bit bigger. Then you can do it the slow way (run water over the top hole and start pulling the egg goop out the bottom til it’s empty) OR, you do the fast way (that’s gross) and literally blow through one hole and all the egg goo comes out the other side. Gross. But effective. Then you’ve got a hollowed out egg that lasts longer than a hardboiled one b/c it doesn’t rot.

I think Martha Stewart (natch) has some tutorials, etc.
