I wanted to show you guys a sneak peek of a set of invitations I did for my party-planning friend Rachelle. She’s busy planning a birthday party for her little boy, Wyatt, who’s turning two. Now, being cool like she is, she really didn’t want to give in to a total character-themed party even though Wyatt is madly in love with Thomas the Train. I love the idea of having character-themed parties but doing it smartly. I’m really pleased with how these invitations turned out.
Gorgeous red long envelopes with ties to close them were the perfect match to our custom train tickets.
I really had a lot of fun with the typography on this one.
The mythical island where Thomas lives is the Island of Sodor, so we created a little “Island of Sodor Nat’l Railway” logo for the ticket too.
And finally, we did add a little of the original Thomas + Friends logo on the labels for the envelopes, but with our very own twist on it. Instead of Thomas, we did “Wyatt + Friends.” Jude recognized it immediately when I was working on it and shrieked, “THOMAS!”
All in all, one of my favorite projects of late. Such a fun thing! Can’t wait to show you the other little goodies we’re working on for this party!
